The assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey was devastating for Russian President Vladimir Putin, who characterized the incident as a terrorist attack, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.
Andrey Karlov was shot and killed at an art gallery exhibition opening in Ankara on December 19. The Russian Foreign Ministry said it considered the attack a terrorist act.
“Vladimir Putin strongly condemned this provocation. He characterized it as a terrorist attack, a human tragedy because it was a devastating piece of news for the president,” Peskov told the MIR television channel.
