Ohio State University in Columbus has been placed on lockdown due to reports of an active shooter on campus. At least one person appears to have been killed and there are reports of multiple injuries.

The Buckeyes got an alert message from the university authorities instructing them to “Run Hide Fight.” The incident was pinpointed to “Watts Hall. 19th [Avenue] and College [Road].”

According to one student, the shooting started in the neighboring Macquigg Laboratory.

Another student tweeted out that the police “tackled” the suspect and surrounded him outside, but the report has not been officially confirmed.

Local media have reported that “at least three people were shot” on campus. The authorities are yet to release any information. Students are still being instructed to shelter in place.

Eight people have been taken to the hospital, one of them in critical condition, WCMH reported, citing the Columbus Fire Department. A ninth person was being treated for injuries at the scene and may still be transported to a nearby hospital.

Watts Hall is the engineering building.
